Assists in performing laboratory research activities and other assigned tasks; aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. Maintains a safe and effective working environment. Assists senior lab technicians in collecting, preparing and processing specimens; readies specimens for dispensation to clients and exercises great care to ensure the quality of specimen testing results. Helps order, receive and inspect raw materials and equipment. Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment and ensures a safe and professional environment. Registers and verifies the eligibility of clients. Enters laboratory results and ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data.
Weekdays: Varying AM shifts with start times as early as 04:30 or as late as 07:30. Also the possibility of occasional weekday overnights to cover for PTO requests. Weekends: Every-fourth weekend, either AMs or overnights Holidays: Two per year On-calls: Five to six on-call weekends per year, varying between AMs and overnights. Salary based on experience.
High school graduate or equivalent with at least one year experience using computers, basic office equipment, medical and/or laboratory terminology. Some post-secondary education (medical field) preferred.
